After Highschool I wasn't sure what I wanted to pursue. It was only natural to turn to one of my first loves... dogs!  In 2004 I took a 5 month apprenticeship course with a local groomer, Mark Winsor, where I learned how to groom many types of animals in many different types of scenarios. I continued to work with Mark for a year and a half after I finished my course to gain experience and pick up on new skills.

After that I went to work for a local Poodle Breeder and all breed Groomer, Valerie Reid.  She helped me develop even more by showing me other methods of grooming while still remembering the original ones that I had been shown.  This enables me to meet the needs of various types of clients.

Having worked for two well known groomers it has helped me to learn that there are different types of clients who may prefer different styles and now I can better suit their needs.

I recently taught the Animal Grooming course at a local College and passed on skills to young groomers just starting out.  It was a very rewarding experience.

Besides my grooming training I have also obtained a Pet First Aid Certificate.  From the Pet First Aid course I can better equip myself for any emergencies that may come up in the salon. I have also attended the 2005 Zodiac Flea Seminar which helped develop my knowledge of fleas and how to treat them.

In June 2010 I traveled to Ontario to compete in my first Grooming Competition with my Standard Poodle, Lulu.  We took FIRST PLACE in the Intermediate Poodle category!  I also attended a two day seminar on grooming various breeds.  Attending these seminars will keep me up to date on new styles and equipment and keep you and your pet safe and happy!

I am now competing and receiving training internationally.  I competed in the WORLDS largest grooming competition in Atlanta Georgia this past March 2011 and Intergroom in Secaucus, NJ in April 2011.

I am also a Member of IPG (International Professional Groomers Inc.) and working towards my International Certified Master Groomer status.  This will make me one of very few groomers in the province to have certification.  To date I have completed my Non-Sporting Practical exam (June 2010) and my Non Sporting written exam (November 2010) with both marks qualifying for masters status.  I am now your Standard Poodle certified expert!

I strive to run a clean and safe salon where your pet can spend the day getting the best treatment possible.  With my training and love animals I promise I will do my best to meet your needs and expectations.

I currently live in CBS, NL with my Husband Colin, my Beagle Snoopy, mix breed Kora and my two Standard Poodle Lulu and Izzy Mae.
Meghan Clarke (Award Winning Pet Stylist)

My name is Meghan Clarke, proud owner and operator of Doggie Stylz Pet Grooming, one of Newfoundland's best grooming salons.

I developed my love of animals through my mother Wendy when I was a child.  I used to go into her closet when I was younger and look through her breed books, always eager to ask if she had ever seen this kind of dog or that kind of dog.  If we were out somewhere no matter what the dog looked like I would ask her what kind it was and she was sure to have an answer.

Wendy's love of animals started very early in her life when she would come home and bring her father some kind of pet she had found.  Whether it be a lost dog or just a frog from the river.  She went on to work in pet retail and retail for a number of years before going to school to be a secretary.
In 2005 Wendy completed an Animal Sciences Course and a Pet First Aid course.  She also runs a website dedicated to helping homeless pets become spayed and neutered along with educating the public about puppy mills and other pet related info.  www.voiceforcanines.net
