How far in advance do I have to book my appointment?

Pre-booking is always recommended.  You generally know how long your dogs grooming lasts them so book your appointments in advance.  We have clients who book their appointments for the whole year all at once!

Wait times depend on the time of year.  Generally allow at least a week to two weeks when booking your appointment.  For Christmas appointments we recommend you book 3 months in advance.

When should my puppy be groomed?

We recommend puppies stop by for a nail trim at 8 weeks of age to get used to the process.  Puppies can then come in for their first grooming a week after their second or third vaccine.  This depends on what your Vet recommends.   Ask your vet how many vaccines your puppy needs to have before being groomed.  It is very important that puppies get used to the grooming process as soon as possible!

How long does it take to have my dog groomed?

The grooming process varies depending on the breed of dog, style of cut, coat condition, behavior, size etc.  Please allow anywhere from 4 -5 hours for your dog's grooming session.  If you need your dog to be done early please let us know when booking your appointment so we can make the necessary changes to our schedule.  (An additional charge may or may not apply)

Why does it take that long to groom my dog?

Generally your dog is not the only one we are working on.  We take so many appointments in the morning and so many in the afternoon.  We first do any prep work that needs to be done on fido.  Then he or she is off to the tub for a massaging with high quality shampoos and conditioners by our trained assistants.  At this point we will start prep work on another pooch.  Most salons in and around the area kennel dry.  This means your dog is put into a kennel and a dryer blows air on them until they are dry.  We do not do this.  We believe in hand drying every dog, this process also takes extra time.

Throughout our day we also have a salon to run, which takes time.  The groomer is not only a groomer, we are receptionists, greeters, bathers, dryers, janitors and the list goes on.  Please have patience and understanding and know your dog is in great hands!  We will call you as soon as your dog is ready to be picked up.

Can I stay with my dog while they are being groomed?

No.  We do not allow this.  There are multiple reasons why.

1.  We have insurance to cover our employees if they get injured by dogs or equipment while working.  Of course we have liability insurance but we will not risk any members of the public getting injured in our working area.  It only takes one wrong move and you are bitten by another dog or injured with our sharp equipment.

2.  Generally your dog does not behave better when you are around.  They are a lot like children, they always behave better for others.

3.  The chance of your dog being distracted by you is too great.  Picture one of our stylist trying to groom around your dogs eyes and you make a unconscious move or noise.  This can result in injury.

4.  Our salon is small and the time it takes to groom your dog can be lengthy, we do not have the room to have everyone stay with their dogs.

Not to mention, imagine having me standing over your shoulder while you work at your desk for four hours straight... didn't think so :)!  You can trust in us that your dog is getting the best care and you can call and check on them anytime.  Also we will call you if we have any concerns while your dog is with us!

How often should your dog be groomed?

Depending on coat type, length and condition, your dog should be groomed every 4-6 weeks.  Dogs with short coats, such as Labs or Beagles may be groomed ever 6-8 weeks.
